Job Dimensions:

The Labourer 1 position is an entry level position to Tybo and to the construction industry. This position will work under the “Green Hand” program until sufficiently trained and competent in general duties. The Labourer 1 will be required to carrying materials up to 23 kgs (50lbs), collect debris, general housekeeping of the site, shovelling, raking, sweeping, lifting, pumping, grouting, and assisting crew members in the completion of tasks.

Career Progression:

At the end of the 12-month duration, the Labourer 1 may be assessed to further their career. Positions may include Labourer 2. Prior to moving up (career progression), an assessment will be completed by a senior position within the department to determine eligibility.

Position Requirements:

  • No previous experience required.
  • Physically fit and fit for duty.
  • Strong work ethic.
  • Ability to travel to and from various worksites.
  • Ability to pass pre-access drug and alcohol testing (project specific).

Minimum Training Requirements:

  • SiteReadyBC.
  • Company/Project Specific Orientation.
  • Site specific training (when and if required).
  • Fit testing (Respirator).
  • Valid Class 5 Drivers License. (Preferred, but not required).

Accountabilities:

  • Show up on time and work hard with a positive attitude.
  • Ability to listen, understand and acknowledge directions from the Foreman and/or Lead Hand
  • Complete basic tasks using common sense.
  • Ask questions when you don’t understand, or you feel that a task is unsafe.
  • Be fit for duty for every shift.
  • Be an active participate in the corporate safety management plan. Follow policy and procedures.
  • Ability to work outside during adverse weather conditions.
  • Wear required Personal Protection Equipment (PPE).
  • Able to work with and communicate effectively with the Tybo crew and supervisors
  • Obligation to refuse unsafe work.
